Can I use the VBT?
Rather than spend your time configuring your computer, we recommend you use the new VBT system.
The VBT allows you to view our system from virtually any computing device.
Older WBT systems required plug ins such as Flash, Neuron, or Shockwave and also requires you to set/change your security settings.
Please use the VBT to simplify your trainint process.
If you need more explanation, call our office. 832-858-8601 |

Do the programs operate on Netbook computers? Yes
Netbook computers have less vertical display space than standard computers. Their display setting is 1024 by 600.
Toolbook/Neuron programs have additional Netbook features:
1) You can scroll the required amount by pressing the Up arrow or Down arrow keys on your keyboard.
2) You can navigate by pressing the Right arrow key for "Next" or the Left arrow key for "Previous". Press the ESC key to exit a module. |

Which Browser should I use?
For WBT, CPaT provides tech support for Internet Explorer 7 (or 8) or Firefox...
These are the most widely accepted and tested browsers.
For our new VBT system, virtually any browser will function. |
|
|
|
|
|
Will the Toolbook and Director programs function on a 64 bit computer with 64 bit Windows Vista?
Yes. If you have problems configuring your computer, please use our VBT system.
Otherwise:
All installed programs function on a 32 or 64 bit system.
Installed programs include those on hard drive or memory stick.
Online programs operate fine, however you must use the 32 bit browser. See the browser information below:
The 64 bit version of Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) or Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) will not run Flash, Neuron, Shockwave, and many other browser plug-in programs.
Thankfully, the 64 bit Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer is normally equipped with both the 32 bit IE8 and the 64 bit IE8.
For WBT, you need to use the 32 bit version. It is the default version on many 64 bit machines.
Toolbook/Neuron and Director/ShockwavePrograms:
Neuron is the browser plug-in for Toolbook; and Shockwave is the browser plug-in (player) for Adobe Director.
You must run the 32 bit version of IE7 or 8 for browser operation.
If this version is not the default version on your machaing, the 32 bit version is located in "c:program files(x86)internet exploreriexplore.exe". Note the (x86) in the folder name.
On many machines, the 32 bit version is the default, so no action is needed on your part.
The 64 bit version of IE7 (8) is located in "c:program files/internet explorer/iexplore.exe". |

I have a Mac! Help!
"By now you have experienced life with a Mac in a PC dominated business environment. Hope is not lost. We can help.
Use the new CPaT VBT. It functions on PC, Mac, smartphones, iPad, etc.
If you do not want to use the VBT and insist on using the WBT system:
1) Our Adobe Director software online courses run on a Mac or PC. These programs require installation of the browser plug-in Shockwave 11. Note: Use of Shockwave 11.5 is not yet approved.
If you can't get it to run or can't get credit for your training, call our office for assistance.
2) If you need to run a Toolbook software course (PC based), you can do one of two things:
a) Install the program "Parallels" and "Windows XP" to emulate a MS Windows OS. Then install Neuron as if your Mac was a PC. This solution works for our USB flashdrive and online courses.
b) We can set you up to control and display one of our PCs on your Mac screen. This will allow you to run the programs over the internet using "gotomypc". It works quite well and our computers are configured as required. No software installation is required, but you must contact our office to get the web address and password. 2) The browser plugin, Neuron, has NOT been installed."
|

Why is a browser plug in required?
CPaT only uses high quality graphics with full interactivity and animations. The flexible curriculum sequencing and other features for this training quality currently requires common industry plug-ins such as Shockwave or Neuron.
CPaT is constantly evaluating the industry to ensure we provide the best training possible. Accordingly, our new smartphone programs use the same high quality graphics and high interactivity with no plug ins. Have your airline training manager call us for more information. |

Why doesn't the display window fit on my screen?
"To properly deliver high quality graphics, CPaT requires a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 or higher.
There are two common reasons why the display window doesn't fit your screen:
1) The display settings are set too low (less than 1024 X 768). Please read the Screen Resolution FAQ.
2) The system font size is set too high. Large font size selection will override your display settings to cause a default display setting of 800 X 600 (regardless of your setting in item 1 above).
Netbook Note: Support has been added for Netbook computers that run at 1024 by 600.
For Toolbook/Neuron programs, if scrolling is not desired, the arrow keys may be used for navigation (Next and Previous), and the ESC key is used to exit the program. Additionally, the Up and Down arrow keys will provide specific scroll amounts to quickly view the entire screen." |
